21st Century Road Trip Checklist
So, tomorrow I leave on a family-related road trip to the grand ole state of West Virginia. It’s a six hour drive there tomorrow morning, and then another six hour drive back tomorrow night, so I’m currently packing a little survival kit. As I was piling up the stuff I plan on bringing, I realized that this truly is the 21st century:
- 15 GB iPod, currently holding my 710 songs
- Griffin iTrip, for transmitting my tunes to the car’s FM stereo
- Belkin Car Power Adapter, to keep my iPod alive for the 12 hour trip
- Canon PowerShot G3 digital camera
- multiple CompactFlash cards to hold my digital photos
- cell phone, to keep in touch with friends
Ten years ago, this would have been a different list: postcards, pen, audio cassettes, 35mm camera, lots of film, and some crossword puzzles. I’m excited to see what my checklist will consist of ten years from now.
Anyways, wish me luck, and look forward to some interesting photographs, which I’ll be sure to post as soon as I get back. Ciao!

Cool, have fun! I’m about to buy a 10 GB iPod today and never knew about the iTrip thing — that is truly a dream come true! The car adaptor is also a must-have. I’m glad I found out about these before I went to the Apple Store. :)

My list for trips like that is somewhere in between 10 years ago and today. So, 5 years ago then.
