My Jet-Setting Extravaganza

Back Home from Colorado

When I said that I was going to be a jet-setter for the weekend, I didn’t know just how true that was. I left for Boulder, Colorado on Thursday night, drove for two hours from Boulder to Vail on Friday morning, skiied and slept in Vail on Friday, drove back to Boulder on Saturday morning, ate at the delicious Cheesecake Factory restaurant on Saturday night, and was back home Sunday night, readying for another Monday of school.

“When you’re a jet-setter, everything must be described as ‘the funniest,’ ‘the craziest,’ or ‘the coolest.’”

Let me tell you, the life of a jet-setter is fantastic, but it’s also exhausting and, most of all, dangerous! At Vail I was inattentively skiing down an easy hill when, with no warning, it turned into what seemed to be a black diamond. Long story short, I hit a mogul, flew through the air and across the slope, and survived only by grasping on to a small plant that was peeking through the fluffy snow. (Yes, “survived” might be a strong word, but when you’re a jet-setter, everything must be described as “the funniest,” “the craziest,” or “the coolest.”)

My next brush with death occured on the drive home from Vail. An out-of-control wind came out of nowhere and blew our car right off the road. As my sister tried to regain control of the car, we were smacked from behind by a much larger Toyota 4Runner, straight into a 3-foot deep, snow-filled ditch. Talk about whiplash – ouch! Sixty long and cold minutes later, we had a police report filed and our car back on the road.

Now I’m back home for the rest of the holiday season, finishing up my final week of school before Christmas break. Thank God… I’m not sure I could survive yet another jet-setters weekend!

P.S. I promised some pictures. Promise kept!

Wow … sounds like you had a good time, and I’m glad you are okay after all that. You’re only young once, so you might as well live a little on the edge, huh? :) Three more days ’till break!
