Is a photograph of a photograph even considerable? Marc North recently posted some photos of photos, and although they look great, I couldn’t help but wonder… “how special is that?” I suppose that by capturing a specific portion of the photo, you can alter its overall meaning and/or tone, thus making it somewhat your own. What do you think? Here’s my try at it.

i love the way that his shirt looks flat. I suppose that comes from the subject being a photograph? It creates an interesting feel to the image. The richness of the colors and textures are tasty.
I would be interested to see the original photograph.

It was the June 2004 cover of GQ:

I’m also enjoying the ‘flatness’ of the photo. It *does* do something to change the interpretation. — on another note, i know this is terribly tacky to ask but how are you getting those wonderful rounded corners on your photos?

Asparagus… the rounded corner is achieved quite easily, and without having to do any fancy image work on each photo. All it is is a small GIF image on top of the photo. Part of the GIF is transparent, therefore you see the photo through it and get the effect of a rounded corner. That’s it! :)
