Trailer released for Wall-E, Pixar’s project for 2008
Wow, this was unexpected! I don’t know why I’m always surprised when Pixar has a trailer ready for their upcoming project before their current one, in this case Ratatouille, is even released. However, they always do, usually a teaser, and this is year is no different.
The movie is WALL•E, directed by the genius behind Finding Nemo (2003) — still my favorite from Pixar — Andrew Stanton. The trailer, which, following tradition, is a teaser, is narrated by director Stanton who tells of a day in the summer of 1994, near the completion of Pixar’s first full-length animated feature Toy Story (1995), when he, John Lasseter, Peter Doctor, and Joe Ranft (all significantly involved with Pixar at some point or another) sat down for lunch and thought: “Well, geez… If we’re going to make another movie we’ve got to get started now.”
Apparently, and this is news to me, the general ideas behind A Bug’s Life (1998), Monsters, Inc. (2001), and Finding Nemo were all born at this meeting between great minds. Also discussed that day was the story of a robot named WALL•E. 14 years later, in the summer of 2008, that story will hit the big screen in what will be the ninth feature film to be released by the incredible people at Pixar Animation Studios.
The only plot synopsis available so far reads:
The year is 2700. WALL•E, a robot, spends every day doing what he was made for. But soon, he will discover what he was meant for.
The trailer doesn’t reveal much more (well, other than that WALL•E appears to have been built for the mundane task of trash compacting), however with a director like Andrew Stanton and a team like the one at Pixar, I find it hard not to assume that WALL•E will be a film not to be missed.

I was reading about this earlier today, and all I could think was that must have been one helluva lunch! I would’ve loved to be a fly on the wall for that conversation… I wouldn’t be surprised if this little detail they’ve revealed ends up going down in the annals of film history.
I’m definitely excited to see more about WALL-E! I have to admit, I’m the single person on the planet who hated Finding Nemo (yeah, yeah, I know) but this looks intriguing. I loved the feel of the trailer… even though it was ridiculously short, I do feel like that bodes well…

WALL-E. Saw the trailer… twice. Yes, it was crazy-short, but who would Pixar be if they didnt give you but only a sniff… not even a taste of their new dish?!? Anticipation only makes you want more, right? Im not per se, a robot fan, but as long as it’s coming from Pixar… I know I will love it! Their record speaks for itself.
