Admiring Jacques-Louis

Shot this at the Louvre. I love massive history paintings. Pictured here is Jacques-Louis David’s The Coronation of Napoleon (1806). 6.21 m × 9.79 m!

Yes! I couldn’t believe how big this painting was after looking at it for years in art history books.

Ditto! I had just completed a course on 18th and 19th century European art when I went to Paris. Obviously, we studied a ton of David’s paintings, but to see it in person gave me a whole new appreciation for his work.

Amazing painting that I failed to photograph but took more than 5 minutes to admire. Talk about massive paintings though. Vanessa and I hope to visit Italy in the near future.
